چکیده

Abstract We present a magnetohydrodynamic simulation of the coronal mass ejection on 2006 December 13 in emerging ? -sunspot NOAA Active Region 10930, improving upon previous by Fan as follows. (1) Incorporate an ambient solar wind instead using static potential magnetic field extrapolation initial state. (2) In addition to imposing emergence twisted flux rope, also impose at lower boundary random electric that represents effect turbulent convection, which drives field-line braiding and produces resistive viscous heating corona. With inclusion this heating, depends topology, we are able model synthetic soft X-ray images would be observed X-Ray Telescope (XRT) Hinode satellite, produced simulated field. find preeruption with buildup rope emission shows qualitatively similar morphology Hinode/XRT for both loops active region central inverse S-shaped “sigmoid“ sharpens just before onset eruption. The postflare loop brightening seen image during impulsive phase It is found kinematics erupting significantly affected open fields fast streams adjacent region.

The Evolution of a Rapidly Expanding Active Region Loop into a Trans Equatorial Coronal Mass Ejection

On February a coronal mass ejection erupted o the NE limb of the Sun from a coronal loop sys tem which had earlier been visible in soft X rays and Fe XIV The ejection coincided with the onset of a small soft X ray event and it left the corona at a po sition angle of around degrees at around km s This ejection then merged with a much larger event which spanned the equator and became indis tingui...

A Time-dependent Three-dimensional Magnetohydrodynamic Model of the Coronal Mass Ejection

We present a theoretical magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) model describing the time-dependent expulsion of a three-dimensional coronal mass ejection (CME) out of the solar corona. The model relates the white-light appearance of the CME to its internal magnetic Ðeld, which takes the form of a closed bubble, Ðlled with a partly anchored, twisted magnetic Ñux rope, and embedded in an otherwise open backg...

Reconstructing the Morphology of an Evolving Coronal Mass Ejection

Using imaging data from the STEREO mission, we empirically reconstruct the time-dependent three-dimensional morphology of a coronal mass ejection (CME) from 2008 June 1, which exhibits significant variation in shape as it travels from the Sun to 1 AU, requiring us to abandon the assumption of selfsimilar expansion. We model the CME as a flux rope that is rather fat relative to its longitudinal ...

Coronal mass ejection: key issues

Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been addressed by a particularly active research community in recent years. With the advent of the International Heliophysical Year and the new STEREO and Hinode missions, in addition to the on-going SOHO mission, CME research has taken centre stage in a renewed international effort. This review aims to touch on some key observational areas, and their interpre...

The Coronal Mass Ejection Waiting-time Distribution

The distribution of times ∆t between coronal mass ejections (CMEs) in the Large Angle and Spectrometric Coronagraph (LASCO) CME catalog for the years 1996-2001 is examined. The distribution exhibits a power-law tail ∝ (∆t) with an index γ ≈ −2.36± 0.11 for large waiting times (∆t > 10 hours). The powerlaw index of the waiting-time distribution varies with the solar cycle: for the years 1996-199...
